Drexel Athletics inducted five individuals into the Janet E. and Barry C. Burkholder Athletics Hall of Fame in January of 2023. The Hall of Fame Class of 2023 included Bill Baer (football), Robert Battle (men's basketball), Christina Mastropaolo (field hockey), Rebecca Murphy (women's tennis) and Mike Pellegrini (men's soccer). In addition, Drexel recognized two individuals with the Athletic Director's Legacy Award. Former Faculty Athletic Representative Hazem Maragah and Drexel graduate Chuck Vincent ('57) received the award. The 2023 Hall of Fame was presented by Strive Physical Therapy.
The Drexel Athletics Hall of Fame was established in the mid 1970s and the school’s first class was honored on January 24, 1976. The Hall of Fame was established to honor former Drexel student-athletes, coaches, administrators and athletic personnel who have, by their outstanding achievements, contributed to ideals of the Drexel Athletics Department.
On December 5, 2012, Drexel unveiled the Janet E. and Barry C. Burkholder Athletics Hall of Fame. It is the first permanent home for the Hall of Fame of Drexel Athletics. The Hall of Fame is located in the Recreation Center Gallery between the Recreation Center and the Daskalakis Athletic Center. It is an interactive Hall of Fame, with four touch screens.
Nominations are accepted throughout the year. Former student-athletes are eligible ten years after graduation. Coaches, administrators, and support staff must have served Drexel University a minimum of five years for consideration.
